My Wife Drugged Me

As I was wiping down countertops, loading the dishwasher, and restoring our home to its rightful order a single though occurred to me: My wife drugged me.

Do I have your attention? Are you confused? Well, you should be … Keep reading…

Evolve Big Alpha Review Xbox One

6u6w

My short time with Evolve Big Alpha left me wanting for more storyline even more so than Destiny, but at least I knew going in the main focus of this game was the multiplayer aspect. First and foremost, you either play as a team of hunters or a monster. Each are trying to destroy the other with the hunters protecting a generator on the map and the monster trying to destroy it after evolving to stage three.

You might be asking yourself, “So what makes this game different from any other game where I have to go there and shoot that?” Well, I’m glad you asked … Keep reading…

5 AM and Star Gazing

It’s early for a weekend. The dogs have been let out to relieve themselves and my wife has triumphed over another middle-of-the-night-blow-out diaper. My youngest daughter, Echo, sits in my lap as I write this. She is mesmerized by the screen but not tired enough to go back to sleep. Stephanie snores next to me unaware of my twitching fingers.

My thoughts turn to the stars I was gazing at a few moments ago, and I wonder where we all fit in this infinite universe … Keep reading…

We’re That Family

I’ve meant to post this story for a few weeks now, and I’m glad I finally found the time to do so. This is one of those stories that you tell your friends about other people and say things like, “My child knows better than to do something like that”  or “I can’t imagine what else goes on inside that home.” Well as it turns out, this story is about my family. Yup, that’s right. Today until the end of forever, we are that family.

This story starts out like any other story … Keep reading…

When I Grow Up

Well, I turned in my last assignment for my BFA in Creative Writing last night, and I can honestly say that it feels like the world has lifted from my shoulders and opened up in front of me. It’s like my entire body sighed all at once, and then I realized I can finally hunker down on those huge projects that have been on the back burner for so long… Welcome back, World! I saved you a seat on my shoulders just in case you decided to return.

It’s okay. Life wouldn’t be worth much if you didn’t have personal goals to achieve or surpass. The past two-and-a-half years … Keep reading…

Black Science Vol. 1 (Image)

I recently discovered Black Science, and I was not disappointed. This review couldn’t have said it any better. Even if you’re on the fence about graphic novels, I promise you won’t be let down by Black Science. It’s mature, dark, and edgy and exactly what this format needs to break free from the comic book cliche created by Marvel and DC Comics. Super heroes don’t die but real heroes do.

Black-Science-Vol-1

Rating: 5/5 – These are Worlds You’ll Want to Visit Over and Over Again.
by ComicSpectrum reviewer Shawn Hoklas.

Black Science borrows heavily from the Fantastic Four, but does so while adding in mature themes, violence, and a level of tangible danger that’s not currently found in mainstream super-hero comics. This is a story about a family that’s traveling through the multiverse and exploring the unknown, while also trying to solve their own problems from within themselves. Writer Rick Remender, and artists Matteo Scalera and Dean White have created something truly special with Black Science that combines the best of writing and art to create one of my favorite new series from Image. In this first volume of Black Science that collects issues one through six, we’re introduced to Grant McKay and his children, along with the rest of his team as they begin their journey into different realities.
