Inevitable Free Fall

We’ve all experienced that familiar descent into a never ending slumber, even craved it. An inevitable free fall. A way down from this world into the black abyss of nothing and everything. A complete, untethered release from all of this life’s restraints straight down.

The wind rushes past cleansing our worries and doubts. We don’t look back. We leave it all behind us. We are weightless.

The bottom rushes closer so incredibly… Attractive, inviting, even comforting in its inky void. All light and sound, pain and fear swept away into the comfortably numb embrace of the darkness.

Faraway in its impossible depths there is an end, a release of pressure, a spectacular moment of clarity and tranquility where we don’t fear its infinity.

We only fear the sudden stop.
